ORCAS is full. We really don't need any new players. However, occasionally we have a few players move away or take time off for an injury, etc. so it would be good for us to have some extra players on file that we can call when we need a sub. As full time spots opens up we will know who to ask to join fulltime.
ORCAS is more than just a soccer league – it's a community. We're a group of friendly, fairly experienced players who enjoy a casual game on the field and social drinks and games afterward. If that sounds like your kind of evening, register using the form below, and we'll try to get you out for a game.
If you're looking for a league WITHOUT the post-game camaraderie, you would be better suited elsewhere as we are looking to get know our new players after the soccer games are over. If you're here for fun, friendship, and football, welcome to ORCAS!
ORCAS has transitioned to an over-40 league. The majority of our core players are in their 40s and 50s. We believe that younger and faster 20-year-olds (especially the men) would be better suited to a competitive soccer league in the city.
If you are still in your 30's but feel that you could still be a good match for our league, we kindly request that you speak with me directly or obtain a recommendation from another ORCAS player.
Each summer we run one large league with games running three times a week held on Tuesdays, Sundays, and Fridays. For long-time ORCAS players, one simple fee will cover the entire summer season's outdoor games. Players will be be able to choose to come to as many games as they wish. Some players might not wish to come to any Sunday games at all and some might wish to come to all three nights; it's up to you how often you play.
For newer players, ones that have joined in 2023 or later, we may have to restrict access to some games to avoid crowding. Newer players will have their Teamsnap Summer Roster names marked with an "New" label. If the player count is over 20 for any given outdoor game then newer players may have to drop out. If we have enough new players available that are interested in volunteering to play in a mini pop-up game then can try and run two games.
Sorry, newish players. I wish I could always guarantee that everyone can play every game but Okotoks keeps growing and three games nights a week is as much as I can manage.
The first summer games will start in early May and run into September.
The Registration cost is $90 for the summer season.
SUMMER REGISTRATION FORMReturning players, please complete the following TEAMSNAP ETIQUETTE form too. New players, you can skip this form until you are a confirmed player.

The league will run from May into September with games played three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
All players will be added to teamsnap and the schedules can be access via the Teamsnap website www.teamsnap.com or phone App.
Kickoff times will be posted in teamsnap. For May-July we start at 7:30pm on all three nights. In August and September we start earlier to beat sundown.
The ORCAS league is not heavily organized. I never know how many players will show up on any given night, how many will arrive when there's a little rain, or when everyone chooses to schedule their summer holidays.
We typically have full field games on most nights. In late August and September, we were often 5-7 per side with portable nets.
ORCAS is a true recreation league. We have no referee or linesman so play honest and ref yourself. There is no slide tackling, fighting, or dangerous challenges. Take it easy, have fun and come out for a drink afterwards. When you arrive at each game just grab either a red or a yellow pinnie and that's your team for the night. Next week half your opponents will be your teammates.
We have some very talented players and likely a few beginners too, so please share the ball, share the substitutions (if needed) and then share a beer.
This year we will be booked at the Howard Park Upper and Lower fields. Depending on the field conditions such as holes, length of grass, etc. and the game night we may move between the two fields.
Please check our location map for details.
Every night at 5:00 pm the Town of Okotoks will update the Field Status page on their website (Scroll down to see the field status report).
Anytime we have a game night and it is raining or there has been a lot of rain in previous days then the fields might be closed.
Please visit the town website at 5:05 pm on game nights and check the field status. If the fields are closed due to poor weather we cannot play that night.
However, if the weather breaks between 5:00pm and our game, and the fields aren't too sloppy we can still have a game. If you are unsure feel free to call me.
I will be using Teamsnap to make announcements regarding weather.
If you wish to join us this year either as a full time player or as an occasional drop-in please complete the registration form.
Even if you have filled out one of these forms before I need you to complete the form every new season.
This year the waiver form and signature are being done electronically. You will not need to submit a separate waiver anymore.
Please pay by e-transfer to dbown@hcwd.ca or bring fees to the first game. If you're an indoor player and wish to settle up earlier so save time at the first outdoor game please bring your fees to me during one of the indoor games.
